How it works

Trivia night without the bar, the drive or the app.

  1. 1

    Pick a topic

Every topic has its own room, ranked by what people are talking about right now: the NFL, Iran, Bitcoin, The Office, One Piece, Taylor Swift.

  2. 2

    Join from your browser

Type your first name, agree to the terms and allow your microphone. No app, no account. Works on your phone or your computer.

  3. 3

    Play live, together

The host asks the questions, listens for answers from everyone in the room and keeps score out loud. Everyone on the same topic page plays in the same room.

Questions

The short answers.

Is the host a person?

The host is an AI voice, and it says so at the start of every game. It runs the round, follows the conversation and keeps score.

Who else is in the room?

Anyone else playing the same topic, in the same mode, right now. A scheduled game has its own room for whoever has the link. Rooms hold up to 25 players; first names only.

Where do the topics come from?

News, sport and money topics are ranked by what people are betting on at Polymarket, a public prediction market. TV, movies, music, anime, books and games are ranked by how many people read about them on Wikipedia. Either way, the questions draw on each topic’s established history and facts, not this week’s news.

Is the game recorded?

Temporarily. Games are recorded for quality assurance and question analysis, and the recording and transcript are deleted 10 minutes after every game. We keep only the questions that were asked, so future games don’t repeat them.

What does it cost?

Your first 4 minutes are free, once per internet connection, no account needed. After that, sign in and add credit: play costs US$4 an hour, and your credit works on any device. Or the organizer of a scheduled game can sponsor it: US$6 for 20 minutes or US$14.99 for an hour covers everyone, up to 25 players.

I have a coupon. How do I use it?

Open the link you were sent, or enter the code, and sign in with your email. The coupon’s value is added to your credit, which pays for play time and sponsored games. Each code works once.

What happens when a sponsored game ends?

The AI host leaves, and the room stays open as a closing lobby for 5 minutes, just the players. A countdown shows when it closes. Anyone in the lobby can keep it open longer: US$5 for 5 more hours.

Is playing alone the real game?

It’s a sample. On your own you get a one-on-one round with the host. The real game is live with other people: everyone who joins the same topic plays in the same room, so share the page and play together.

Voice or video?

Join now is always voice: that room is open to anyone, so microphones only. To play on camera, schedule a game and choose video, then invite the people you want to see. Video is shown live and never recorded.

Can I set up a game for later?

Yes. On any topic, choose Schedule a game, pick a time and voice or video, and send friends the link and calendar invite. List it on the topic page and other players can join too.

Is this betting?

No. Nothing is wagered and there are no prizes. The markets only tell us what people want to talk about.

Redeem a coupon

The coupon’s value is added to your account’s credit, which pays for play and sponsored games.
