Terms of use
The rules for playing on TriviaGroups. Version 2026-10-20.
The short version
- You’re 18 or older.
- The host is an AI. It can get things wrong; scores are just for fun and there are no prizes.
- Games are temporarily recorded for quality assurance and question analysis, and deleted 10 minutes after the game. Other players hear you live.
- Be a good player: be kind, keep it clean, no harassment or hate, and don’t share personal details about yourself or anyone else.
- Use headphones if you can, mute when you’re not answering, and one person per microphone.
- On camera in video games: be dressed, keep it clean and show only yourself. No nudity, ever.
- Don’t record other players. We can remove anyone from a room.
- The first 4 free minutes are once per internet connection. After that, play uses your account’s credit.
- A sponsored game ends when its paid time runs out. The closing lobby after it is just the players, with no AI host, and isn’t recorded.
Who we are
TriviaGroups.com is operated by Altever Solutions Inc. (“we”). Games run on the TriLuna voice platform. By joining a room you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don’t agree, don’t play.
Who can play
You must be 18 or older. Rooms are live voice calls with strangers and an AI host.
The game
Each room is hosted by an AI voice that asks true-or-false questions about the room’s topic and keeps score. It can mishear answers and can get facts wrong. Scores are for fun only: nothing is wagered and there are no prizes. TriviaGroups ranks topics by public Polymarket volume and Wikipedia pageviews but is not affiliated with either, and there is no betting here.
Recording and your data
Video is shown live to the other players and is not recorded. Games are temporarily recorded and transcribed for quality assurance and question analysis. The recording and transcript are deleted 10 minutes after every game. We keep the questions that were asked, without who answered them, so future games don’t repeat them. Other players hear you live, and the first name you enter is shown to everyone in the room.
To limit free play we keep a one-way, salted hash of your internet connection’s address, never the address itself, along with when you played and for how long.
Playing well
- Be kind. No harassment, threats, hate, sexual content or slurs.
- Don’t share personal information about yourself or anyone else, and don’t impersonate anyone.
- Don’t record, rebroadcast, screenshot or publish other players.
- In video games, cameras are optional. If yours is on: be fully dressed, keep it clean, show only yourself and nothing you wouldn’t show a room of strangers. No nudity or sexual content, ever.
- Don’t try to disrupt a game, manipulate the host or get around play-time limits.
- Use headphones if you can, keep background noise down, mute when you’re not answering, and one person per microphone.
We can mute or remove anyone from a room, and block access, at any time.
Accounts, free play and credit
You can try a room as a guest. Each internet connection gets 4 free minutes of play in total. Everyone sharing a connection shares those minutes, and playing in two tabs at once uses time twice as fast.
Scheduling games, buying credit, redeeming coupons and joining scheduled games need an account. You sign in with a code sent to your email, which also creates the account. Keep your email secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
Your account has one credit balance in US dollars. Play uses it at US$4 an hour, counted by the time you spend in a room, and it also pays for sponsored games and lobby extensions. You can add credit by card; prices are shown before you pay, and payment is handled by Stripe. Credit has no cash value and doesn’t expire while your account exists. Except where the law requires otherwise, purchases are non-refundable; if something went wrong with a game, contact us and we’ll make it right.
We sometimes give out coupons. A coupon adds its value to your credit, works once, and can expire on the date shown when it was issued. Coupons have no cash value and can’t be exchanged for money. We can cancel a coupon that hasn’t been redeemed yet, or one that was obtained by guessing codes or other abuse.
Sponsored games and the closing lobby
The organizer of a scheduled game can pay for everyone in it, from their credit or by card. Players in a sponsored game don’t use their free minutes or credit. The sponsored time starts when a player in the game’s room presses Start (or by itself 15 minutes after the start time), and the game ends when it runs out. If nobody joins within 90 minutes of the start, the sponsored time is not used. An organizer who cancels a sponsored game before its room opens is refunded automatically, to their credit or to their card, whichever paid.
When a sponsored game ends, the AI host leaves and the room stays open for 5 minutes as a closing lobby, for the players only. The lobby is not recorded or transcribed, and the 10-minute deletion of the game’s recording and transcript starts when the host leaves. Anyone in the lobby can buy a lobby extension, which keeps it open for everyone for 5 more hours. If the lobby closes before an extension’s payment goes through, it’s refunded automatically. The lobby also closes once everyone has left it.
No warranty
TriviaGroups is provided as is. Rooms can be full, busy or unavailable, and games can end early. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before a claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we change the version above, and you’ll be asked to agree again before your next game.
